Tim Ferriss...the number one business podcast in the country

This podcast has perhaps had the most influence on me in the past few years.
Tim Ferriss is probably best known as a best selling author of the 4 hour series.(4 hour work week and 4 hour body)

By listening to this I find that I am exposed to a wide and varied selection of resources and subjects.

Everything from founders, CEO's, military leaders, social leaders and artists.

By committing time to this it drastically cuts down my need to source information elsewhere.

In meetings sometimes instead of taking notes, I will just record the meeting with my Iphone.

You can send the MP4 off to these guys and they will send you an accurate transcript back within 24 hours.

I have a tough accent and they nailed it.

Great time saver if you are looking to concentrate on flow rather than accurate note taking.

An App you should absolutely be using...

Time management is something I have spent a lot of time researching..

I have struggled to get away from hand written notes, it may be an age thing but there are times when it is just more appropriate.
The Evernote App is the best one I have found.
The Moleskin notebooks have the best integration I have seen to date.

The free version is great and if you like it you should consider upgrading to Premium.

Lau Tzu, Chinese philosopher wrote: "A leader is best when people barely know he exists, when his work is done, his aim fulfilled, they will say: we did it ourselves."

Here's Randall Munroe's brilliant explanation of how the Saturn V rocket works. The brilliant part is that he illustrated it using only the 1,000 most common words (which, ironically, doesn't include the word 'thousand').

If you are only able to use 1,000 words, nuance goes out the window.
The typical native speaker knows 20,000 words, and there's your opportunity:

If you know 40,000 words, if you learn five words a day for a decade, the world changes. Your ability to see, to explain and to influence flies off the charts.


It's not about knowing needlessly fancy words (but it's often hard to know if the fancy word is needless until after you learn it). Your vocabulary reflects the way you think (and vice versa). It's tempting to read and write at the eighth-grade level, but there's a lot more leverage when you are able to use the right word in the right moment.""

All other things being equal (simple contribution analysis for pricing) If you make a product that costs $5 to produce and package, how much should you charge for it?
I don’t know.
But there’s a simple bit of arithmetic you can do to understand sensitivity in pricing.
Should you charge $7 or $9?
Well, if you charge $7, you make $2 a unit.
If you charge $9, you make $4 a unit, or twice as much.
Which means, all other things being equal, you’ll need to sell twice as many at $7 as you’ll need to sell at $9.
It doesn’t feel that way, but it’s true. 100 sold at $9 is more profitable than 180 sold at $7. And to take it a step further, you’ll need to sell 800 at $5.50 to make as much as you would have made at $9. Eight times as many.
No one knows what your demand curve is going to be like, no one is sure what impact your pricing will have on all the other items you sell.
But be honest with yourself about contribution.
Story is a price, it’s a price we tell ourselves and others about what we have to offer. But price is also the path to being able to stay in business.
